Overview
 

A8 Labs of Aptitude 8 will be leading a series of workshops focused on the process of building an app for HubSpot.  This will not be just a high level overview.  You can expect to learn about the complete process of building an app.  The masterclass will be broken down into 3 classes with an optional 4th class that we can dedicate to Q&A after you have had time to digest the previous classes. 

We will be building an app from scratch and, as we progress, we will be committing the code to a GitHub repository so you can follow along and try to build the app on our own.  

Building the app on your own is where the magic happens.  As you start building the app yourself, we encourage you to add any questions you have and any errors you encounter to the repo's issues.  We will walk through these issues in our 4th session.

  • Tyron Foston

    Chief Technology Officer, Aptitude 8

    Tyron Foston is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Aptitude 8, providing global oversight for all technological products and application development and related services. He is the co-founder and former CTO of Appchemist, an official HubSpot partner and international custom application development house. Prior to his CTO roles, Foston was a Mergers & Acquisitions advisor at KPMG.

    Dax Miller is the Head of Product for Aptitude 8, focusing on HubSpot application development and complex solution designs both internally and to a global clientele. He is a 2-time exiting founder of product companies and was the former co-founder of Appchemist, a fast-growing app development house acquired by Aptitude 8.

    Session 1
     
    When:  March 15th at 3:30pm - 4:30pm EST

    This session will focus on getting you up to speed with building an app for HubSpot.  Expect to hear and discuss:

    • How to translate your concept into an viable app
      • Use cases
      • Hosting
      • Architecture
      • Tech stack
    • Setting up a Developer account
    • How you will connect your app to HubSpot and what are the differences among OAuth, HAPI key, Developer API Key
      • App
      • Private App
      • Workflow actions
    • Development and business considerations to make based on the app audience

     

    Session 2
     
    When:  March 22nd at 3:30pm - 4:30pm EST

    In this one, we will get into the weeds on actually bringing the app to life.  We will walk through building a Custom CRM Card and, along the way, expect the following:

    • How we employ the APIs to read and write data
    • Connecting your App to an external data store.  
    • Testing and debugging the app.  How to understand errors.

     

    Session 3
     
    When:  March 29th at 3:30pm - 4:30pm EST

    Let’s bring it all together.  We have built the app.  Now what?

    • Getting the app into the marketplace
    • Monitoring the success of your app
    • How do I get people to test my app?

    When:  April 6th at 3:30pm EST

    We will dedicate this last session to answering any questions you might have about the class.  We will also review any issues that have been reported in GitHub
